Before You Pour That Next Drink
For you today: "Maybe your path is harder because your calling is higher."
Move & Thrive: Before You Pour That Next Drink
A glass of wine at dinner, a cocktail with friends… it’s part of how we unwind, celebrate, and connect.
But in your 50s-60s, your body starts processing alcohol very differently.
You may have noticed:
A couple of drinks hits harder than it used to
Your sleep is wrecked
Your hangovers are brutal
Hot flashes flare up like crazy the next morning
Here’s why...
As estrogen drops, your body’s ability to break down alcohol slows down. That means alcohol stays in your system longer, your tolerance dips, and your risk of side effects goes up.
Even moderate drinking can:
Trigger hot flashes
Worsen sleep
Lower bone density
Disrupt your hormones
Increase risk of breast and digestive cancers
Mess with your mood and magnify stress
Am I saying you have to give it up forever?
Not at all.
But I am saying it’s smart cut back a little bit.
Your future self will thank you.
If your goal is to feel stronger, sleep better, and feel more in control of your health, cutting back on alcohol is one of the highest-leverage moves you can make.
Instead of having a glass of wine every night with dinner, try limiting it to 2-3x per week instead.
That’s All for Today!
Have a wonderful day,
Alex
